Engaging in an uncomfortable conversation
Long before the Fox News and Weinstein scandals broke and the #MeToo movement gained momentum, Sarah Beaulieu and her project, The Uncomfortable Conversation, were working to normalize conversations about sexual assault, harassment, and consent. She has done a Ted Talk and made more than 30 short videos on the subject.
As a firm dedicated to clear and compelling communication — and passionate about progressive issues and social good — Thinkso naturally had to get involved. So we sponsored her latest event, a panel discussion and screening of several new videos, held at HBO in NYC this week. Our contribution included lightbox posters featuring Sarah’s tips for supporting the topic, a worksheet of conversation starters, table tents, a slideshow, name tags, and a candy giveaway.
The shift in our culture around speaking out against sexual abuse is long overdue. There’s no better time to normalize these conversations in our own lives and the lives of people young and old. We’re grateful to Sarah and The Uncomfortable Conversation for leading the way, and bringing Thinkso into the conversation, too.
A special thank you to Atkinson Candy Company for donating their classic Chick-O-Stick candy as the giveaway for the event.
