Giving an HR consulting pioneer a brand worth its impact

VISIONS, Inc. has spent more than four decades advancing equity and inclusion through its values-based consulting and training. But their branding and messaging hadn’t kept pace with the evolution of their work, making it harder for prospective partners to fully appreciate their rigor and impact.

Thinkso worked with VISIONS to refresh their identity, clarify what sets them apart, and create a suite of materials that feel cohesive, compelling, and accessible. Their brand now does what their work has always done: bridging worlds, speaking to institutional partners and grassroots collaborators alike, while making the depth and innovation of their approach impossible to miss.

“Thinkso brought us messaging that captured our pioneering approach and a visual identity to support it. All of this while building consensus among our 40+ stakeholders!” John Maudlin, Consultant, VISIONS, Inc.

A revised tagline makes their most essential ideas instantly accessible and memorable to any audience. “Embrace a world of differences” captures their methodology (relationship-driven, not prescriptive), their energy (action-oriented, inviting), and their worldview (difference is not a problem to solve, it’s a reality to engage with). All foundational elements of their work, and central to the visual identity we crafted.

We worked with VISIONS’ facilitators to distill their unique approach into a concise set of differentiators, and built representative icons to establish visual language for them. Alongside the tagline, these elements equip them to clarify their offering in plain, powerful language that highlights their shame-free, relationship-driven model.

At the heart of the new visual identity is a mosaic-inspired pattern—designed to celebrate difference and reinforce VISIONS’ belief that true equity work is built on cross-cultural dialogue, not uniformity. It appears throughout the brand system, serving as both a visual signature and a conceptual anchor that exemplifies their values in every format.

Before and after of the updated VISIONS logo alongside the previous logo.

The mosaic motif carries through to the logo itself, which reimagines a long-standing visual anchor: the globe. Earlier versions of the VISIONS logo featured a forward-facing Africa globe, a subtle but powerful nod to the Afrocentric perspectives that shape their model. Over time, that meaning was lost as the logo evolved into something more generic and cold. We brought intention back into the mark—designing a refreshed symbol that honors their roots while introducing a more layered, modern visual language.

Custom icons for their programs anchor a refreshed set of slide deck covers and support the flow of VISIONS’ program facilitation, giving each offering its own distinct visual marker while reinforcing their interconnection.

We also redesigned core explanatory graphics, many of which are deeply embedded in VISIONS’ methodology and highly valued by stakeholders across the organization. These visuals had to not only align with the new brand but also hold up under the weight of deep discussion. For facilitators, that meant easier tools to teach with. For participants, it meant more intuitive access to complex, often emotional content.
