A website for the world’s preeminent family law firm

Headquartered in Manhattan, but involved in the highest-profile family law matters around the world, Cohen Clair Lans Greifer & Simpson doesn’t do a lot of marketing. But when their 2000’s vintage webpage started to falter, Thinkso took the opportunity to warm up their image and give them a website that is on par with the sophistication of the clients they serve. We retooled their content strategy and user experience, developed an engaging editorial approach, and introduced a design that “reframed” their story — inspired by the simple border around their logotype.

“Thinkso was both an imaginative creative partner and practical web design consultant. They explained best practices, walked us through the process from beginning to end, and delivered a beautiful new website that we’re all extremely proud of.” Shannon Rogers Simpson, Managing Partner, Cohen Clair Lans Greifer & Simpson

To bring the Cohen Clair site up to date and get it working harder for the firm, we introduced a simple content strategy and more robust user experience, two key components the legacy site lacked.

To tell the unique story of the firm and cover its impressive capabilities, we restructured the editorial content so that page headlines and page content have a narrative flow—and, importantly, are more scannable and accessible by search engines.

Some time after launch, the client was interested in adding video content to their website. To avoid slow page load times (caused by a page loading multiple videos simultaneously) or dings to the site’s SEO score, we added a cover image to each video so that it would only load when clicked. This creates a quicker and more seamless user experience

Transforming the site from competent and generic to sophisticated and compelling, we took visual cues from the border treatment of Cohen Clair’s logo to develop a signature style for the design. Throughout, we established a refreshing human warmth and introduced a more friendly and accessible feel.

On pages with multiple videos, we organized them into a carousel that allows the user to seamlessly scroll through and select the content they’d like to view, while also giving the page a streamlined, accessible feel.

The Attorneys page presents the Cohen Clair lineup in a no-nonsense way—leaning on the unvarnished fact that they are some of the best in the world at what they do.

Attorney bio pages are open and airy, revealing the friendly accessibility of each attorney—something that may be less common given the often stressful nature of family law.

Across the site, we used custom photography shot by Tory Williams for a more authentic and welcoming experience. In particular, we created a style for more intimate and expressive attorney bio photos that underscore the firm’s approachability and commitment to personalized service.
